Violet mustard, Moutarde Violette, 200 g
Purple mustard from the Denoix family of Brive-la-Gaillarde in the Périgord (since 1839). The family has revived a historic recipe from the Middle Ages. It was the favorite mustard of Pope Clement VI. Since then, it has also been affectionately called "the mustard of the popes" because these mustard stains were not noticeable on the popes' purple robes. It is a very fine, mild mustard made with grape mustard, reminiscent of a delicate sauce. In the Périgord, it is often served in restaurants as a dip for steaks.
