An extremely elegant solution for the production of disposable tableware – made from renewable and compostable raw materials – is the use of sugarcane fibers. This massive waste material is produced by sugar extraction during the production of cane sugar. The particularly tough fibers, which were previously often burned, can be used as valuable biomass. Up to 50 disposable plates can be produced from the remains of a single sugarcane stalk. The tableware made from sugarcane is stylish, lightweight, yet very durable. It is also water-resistant, microwave-safe, and therefore suitable for both hot and cold cooking.
