100% homegrown. By growing our own spices, we want to raise awareness of top-quality, regionally grown spices and take our commitment to regionality a step further. In this box, we've combined both varieties – the finest biennial caraway with intense coriander.

USE
Caraway, with its strong, distinctive flavor, is also excellent for seasoning (fatty) meat dishes such as roast goose, pork, or lamb, goulash, and braised dishes. It's also ideal for flavoring sauces, soups, vegetables, cheeses, and salads, as well as bread, cakes, and pastries. No matter how you use it, you'll find it here in whole or ground form to perfectly suit your recipes. In the kitchen, this coriander harmonizes wonderfully with fish, meat, and Christmas baked goods like gingerbread and speculoos, as well as with homemade bread. It's also a must-have in soups, stews, and curries, lending them a fresh note.

GOOD TO KNOW

Homegrown produce at the "Maiergut" - In 2021, we revitalized the "Maiergut" in Upper Austria's Innviertel region. We currently cultivate coriander and caraway on the 14-hectare site. This represents a further step toward sustainability and also places the promotion of local agriculture and production at the forefront.

TASTE
Maiergut caraway is particularly aromatic and of outstanding quality. Our coriander has a pleasantly spicy flavor and a slightly nutty aroma reminiscent of oranges. It impresses with an overall sweet aroma that you can enhance with the right amount. The taste of ground coriander seeds is completely different from that of fresh leaves, a fact that even convinces coriander skeptics.

PRODUCTION
Cultivation according to a well-planned crop rotation: Experts have been brought on board to ensure the professional management of the estate and its crops. Support comes from Siegfried Zehetner (right) of Saatbau Erntegut GmbH, based in Kefermarkt, who already has experience with cultivation areas and processing (drying, cleaning, and milling). The estate itself will be managed by farmer Markus Harner. He is the neighbor of the Maiergut and is responsible for the proper cultivation and harvesting.
